Past
Some people live great lives, some people live decent lives. Gabriel lived a suck-tastic life from the time he was born. He never knew his real parents, hell never even met them. He couldn't tell you what they looked like or if they came from money, he couldn't tell you their names or favorite colors. He didn't know if he had any siblings. Why? Because three days after his birth he was dropped off on a doorstep of a nice house in Saginaw, Michigan for someone else to take care of him. A note was left with the bundle of cloth and baby that told the people in the home what he was and how old he was. Nothing more. No parents listed, no 'keep an eye on him', no 'take care of him' and worst of all, no 'I'm sorry'.

Oddly Dr. and Mrs. Bennett actually took him in. They cared for him and raised him with their son, Joseph who was only 2 at the time. Mrs. Bennett had Cami three years after Gabriel's arrival. From the moment he arrived they told him that he wasn't their's. They made sure that he knew what a sacrifice it was for them to take him in. Dr. Bennett of course forged the paperwork to make it look like he was actually their child by creating a birth certificate. No one even bothered to question why Mrs. Bennett had never been pregnant. They all assumed her body had just hidden it well.

But they told him who he was, what he was and even made him feel like an inconveince on their lives. Sure, he had a room of his own, he shared their name (even though he knew it wasn't his to hold), and he got along great with his adoptive brother and sister. But there was always something missing. A real sense of family. Everywhere he went it was with his eyes constantly searching for his real parents, or even a sibling or distant cousin, anyone who could possibly look like him. Of course there was always someone similar.. didn't mean they were family.

The Bennett's were good enough to him. When he was a teenager they took him to get his license and paid for a beater car, they got him a cell phone. But really both were only so that they could convince him to do more errands for them like picking up the dry cleaning or going grocery shopping or something along those lines. He was their live-in maid, babysitter and taxi for little Cami. Of course Cami and Joe both loved him and never took advantage of him like their parents. They never made him feel like he wasn't a part of the family.

As soon as he turned 18 he got a job and lived on the street for a while. The Bennett's wouldn't allow him to keep the car if he wasn't going to live with them. And as soon as he had enough cash he got himself a crappy apartment where he could have Cami or Joe over any time he wanted to. Unfortunately for Gabe though, he had a smart mouth and a knack for trouble. Then again, what person raised the way he had been wouldn't be a bit of a jerk? Half passed his 21st birthday he got into a fight at a bar and -not for the first time- his demonic presense made itself known. He beat a guy half to death and spent 3 years in prison. He was supposed to be there for 8, but they let him out on outstanding behavior. Lucky he guessed.

His first thought was to rush home and see Cami, who would be 21 now, and Joe, who would be 26. Unfortunately it didn't work out that way, as if anything in his life ever had. He made it back to Saginaw to discover the Bennetts had moved while he was in prison. Cami and Joe were both off to college according to the neighbors and Dr. and Mrs. Bennett had moved not long after he'd gotten locked up. Gabriel was on his way to go see Joe in Stanford, then planned to double back to go visit Cami at Harvard when the world collapsed. It sucked, sure. But there was nothing he could do about it. Two weeks to the day after he'd been released from prison the world caved in on itself and the toxic gases began to spew around the world, killing many. He was lucky to have survived.

He's spent the last six years wandering the US in search of his brother and sister (the only two people who can keep him calm). His travels have lead him to Orealis, whether he stays or not is the mystery.
