The Black Rose
that's what they used to tell me 'the black rose'. I guess people called me that because of me Everyone thought we were as beautiful as roses. I got called the black rose because most of the time I wore black. Now me and my sister don't talk, we live different lives. My name is Nickolas , but friends call me Nick. My sister's name is Elizabeth. We don't get along because we have different point a views about what we are. I think we are types of monsters, but she thinks we are the creatures that are to live and survive forever.
We are vampires so I get the living forever part, but the drinking of blood is what I can't do. I live with my mum who is also a vampire, but she doesn't do the drinking of blood. We survive on artificial blood tablets. Elizabeth lives with my dad, grandmother and my brothers, which I have three of. There is Joshua the eldest, then Mark the second eldest and then there is Liam. My grandmother who tried to bring me back to the house but lost to the power I have inside me.
So my mum is getting remarried to the most nicest guy on the planet for humans. Anyway his name is James, he has four sons Dylan who is the oldest, then Sam who is in the year above me, then there is Joel who I'm in class with and then there is the sweetest of them all Declan who is six years old. He likes me as a friend and my mum and when my mum Eclair and James told us, they were getting married he started calling her mum from then on. To the girls I don't really look my age. I am 3215 just missed of the 3200 off not a big lie.
It's the day of the wedding, they went with a church wedding and I know what you're thinking, crosses and holy water but that's all make believe, my mum and James look so lovely up there. All I want to do is smile and that makes the day even more special. Me and Dylan and Declan get along great but Sam and Joul don't like me much. They don't mind my mum. I guess they don't want a brother and when it means moving houses as well and leaving all there friends on their street. The new house was massive, it had eight bedrooms with five bathrooms. It was great, Dylan got Sam and Joul to take the bedrooms on the first floor, him and Declan got the second floor, mum and James were on the second floor as well, I got the whole top floor to myself other than the guest bedrooms.
It was my first day at a new school. Sam and Joul left early so I drove as so I didn't have to walk to school,so Dylan drove with me to school. When we got to the school Dylan showed me to where the principal's office was. The principal said, "Well Nick, you will fit in greatly here, if you ever need to talk to me, my office is always open. Ok let's get you to class."
When I got to class I made a friend with the girl who sat next to me, her name was Phoenix. Me and Phoenix were in all in different classes so she showed me around. The day was going great until lunch. I asked Phoenix, "Why is everyone staring at me?"
"Well it's because you look like Elizabeth and everyone is afraid of her."
Elizabeth came into the dining room, then Phoenix tried to get me to move because that was where Elizabeth sat, but I didn't so when she came over and found me there, she had to make a big scene out of it.
"What in the hells name said you could sit there?"
Then Joshua, Mark and Liam came. They wanted me to move as well so I just sat there. Then Liam and Mark tried to pull me out of the seat. Then I just elbowed them in the stomach and said, "So nothing's changed, you still need Liam and Mark to try to get your own way but it's not going to work Lizzie." Elizabeth hated being called Lizzie so I called it her anyway.
"What did you just call me?"
"What I have called you all my life."
Then Joshua finally spoke up, "Phoenix, how long's it been."
She had a smile, she always looked at me with.
"A while." Elizabeth's face went bright red then she, Liam and Mark walked off, Joshua came and sat with me and Phoenix. I told Phoenix about how me and Elizabeth were twins and why our parents broke up everything but the vampire parts of course, but then Sam and Joul came over.
"What did you say to Elizabeth?"
"Nothing, why?"
"Well since she started blanking us because of you."
"Didn't really think that little Lizzie had any admirers."
We sat and talked until the end of lunch then we left Joshua and went to our class.
The next lesson I thought I was dreaming. I had to sit next to Elizabeth, lucky for me she had a headache and didn't turn up. Finally it was the end of the day me and Ember were walking out of the gates when a black posh car drove up. A man who I thought I would never see again but here he was standing right in front of me.
"Hello Nick how long has it been since I last saw you?"
"Hi sir, a couple of years or so." I felt like this was going to be the end of the world but Dylan came to my rescue to say we had to go home. I said bye to Ember and I'll see you tomorrow, I told the person bye then walked off.
